Meta 3.2 To Analyze a language test

9:49 p.m.

  1. What is the purpose of this test?
To measure spelling grammar and vocabulary, as well as reading comprehension.
  1. Does it represent direct or indirect testing (or a mixture of both)?
Indirect testing
  1. Are the items discrete point or integrative (or a mixture of both)?
There is a mixture of both in this test because the spelling and the writing at the end (first and last exercises) would be integrative, whereas the other exercises are discrete.
  1. Which items are objective, and which are subjective? Can you order the subjective items according to degree of subjectivity?
All the exercises are objective (except for the last exercise that indicates the student to write what he/she knows about friendship) because there is only one correct answer, there are no options.
  1. Is the test norm-referenced or criterion-referenced?
    Criterion-referenced.
  2. Does the test measure communicative abilities? Would you describe it as a communicative test? Justify your answers.
We think this test does not measure communicative abilities because most of the exercises are answering questions, fill in the blanks, underline correct answer, so in consequence the student is not able to communicate with other student(s).
  3. What relationship is there between the answers to question 6 and the answers to the other questions?
They are learning grammar and vocabulary in order to answer correctly according to previous knowledge.
